Autumn Term - War Poetry and A Christmas Carol
We will study the moving poetry of WWI and explore issues of propaganda and violence. Poems include Wilfred Owen's Dulce et Decorum est and Jessie Pope's Who's for the game? Later in the term we will read Charles Dicken's famous A Christmas Carol about an old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner one Christmas Eve. The ghost warns Scrooge that his soul is on the line unless he changes his ways.
Spring Term - Behaviour and Crime and The Crucible
We will dive into a unit which explores anti-social behavoiur and crime in our communities. We will improve our oracy and persuasion skills and get an opportunity to perform a speech which could count towards our final GSCE marks. We will then get a taste for drama with Arthur Miller's The Crucible. a story about the Salem Witch Trails.
