National Mind
We all have mental health, just like we all have physical health, and there is a lot that we can do to look after it. During 2018-19, we have entered into partnership with the mental health charity, Mind, in order to promote wellbeing amongst our student body. A key driver to this partnership is the Whole School Approach Project.
Ysgol Gyfun gwynllyw is one of 17 secondary schools in the UK working with Mind to pilot a new way of looking after the mental health of everyone involved with school life. Mind call it a whole school approach to mental health as it is designed to support the mental health and wellbeing of students, the school workforce, parents and carers. You can find information and resources linked to the project here.
Mental wellbeing describes your mental state - how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life.
Our mental wellbeing is dynamic. It can change from moment to moment, day to day, month to month or year to year.
If you have good mental wellbeing you are able to:
feel relatively confident in yourself and have positive self-esteem
feel and express a range of emotions
build and maintain good relationships with others
feel engaged with the world around you
live and work productively
cope with the stresses of daily life
adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty
This page covers some ideas to stay mentally well and develop your ability to cope with the up and downs of life:
