一心一意 

yī xīn yī yì​

Meaning:  Whole-heatedly, to give something your undivided attention

Literal translation: One heart, one desire/intention, essentially "one heart, one mind"

Example Sentences:

Tā yī xīn yī yì de zhàogù tā shēngbìng de fùmǔ.

She wholeheartedly took care of her sick parents. 

Wèile kǎo shàng hào dàxué, wǒ yīxīnyīyì dì xuéxí zhōngwén.

In order to get into a good university, I study Chinese wholeheartedly.

三心二意​ 

sān xīn èr yì​

Meaning:  Half-hearted, indecisive, divide your attention 

Literal translation: Three hearts two intentions/desires, essentially "three hearts, two minds"

Example Sentences:

Míngtiān jǔxíng de huódòng, wǒ háishì sān xīn èr yì, bù zhīdào yào bù yào cānjiā.

I'm still indecisive about whether to participate in the event tomorrow.

Tā duì liǎng suǒ dàxué dōu hěn xǐhuān, suǒyǐ yīzhí sān xīn èr yì de xuǎnzé.

He likes both universities a lot, so he has been indecisive about which one to choose.

乱七八糟

luàn qī bā zāo

Meaning:  messy

Literal translation: Disorder seven eight mess/rot/ruined

Example Sentence:

Tā de shíjiān ānpái zǒng shì luàn qī bā zāo, jīngcháng chídào.

His schedule is always in a mess, and he's often late.

Zuìjìn, wǒ de xīnqíng luànqībāzāo de.

Recently, my mood has been all over the place.

独一无二 

dú yī wú èr

Meaning:  Unique, unparalleled, second to none 

Literal translation: Only one, there is no two  

Example Sentences:

Zài shànghǎi, wǒ mǎile yīxiē dúyīwú'èr de lǐwù sòng gěi jiārén.

In Shanghai, I bought some unique gifts for my family. 

Qù zhōngguó liúxué shì yīgè dúyīwú'èr de jīngyàn, rúguǒ nǐ yǒu jīhuì, yīdìng yào qù!

一模一样 

yī mō yīyàng

Meaning:  Exactly the same

Literal translation: One mould, one appearance

Example Sentences:

Tā hé tā bàba zhǎng dé yī mō yīyàng.

He looks exactly like his dad. 

Xī'ān de bīngmǎyǒng hé wǒ xiǎngxiàng de yīyīyàng.

The terracotta warriors in Beijing were exactly as I imagined.

入乡随俗

rùxiāng suísú

Meaning:  Enter village follow customs

Literal translation: Do as the Romans do

Example Sentence:

Liúxué de shíhòu wǒ juédìng rùxiāngsuísú: Shuō zhōngwén, yòng kuàizi, hē rè shuǐ, děng děng.

When I was studying abroad, I decided to do as the Romans do: speak Chinese, use chopsticks, drink hot water, etc.

一举两得 

yī jǔ liǎng dé

Meaning:  Two acts, one objective 

Literal translation: To accomplish two objectives with one act (basically "two bird one stone") 

Example Sentence:

Xuéxí xīn de dāncí bùjǐn néng tígāo cíhuì liàng, yě néng zēngqiáng yǔyán nénglì, zhēnshi yījǔliǎngdé de xuéxí fāngshì.

各种各样 

gè zhǒng gè yàng

Meaning:  all kinds of, a variety

Literal translation: Every kind, every type 

Example Sentences:

Wǒ miàn duìle gè zhǒng gè yàng de yālì.

I faced all kinds of pressure.  

Wèile jiànkāng, wǒ chī gè zhǒng gè yàng de shuǐguǒ hé shūcài.

For health, I eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables. 

世界各地

shì jiè gè dì

Meaning:  All around/over the world 

Literal translation: World every land

Usage Example:

Zài běijīng xuéxí de wàiguó liúxuéshēng láizì shìjiè gèdì.

The foreign students studying in Beijing came from all around the world.
