We are fortunate enough to have a couple of internal gap year opportunities we have at GWC. The School has agreements with a school in Australia and in Taiwan where one S6 leaver can spend a year living and working in each country.
Applicants need to be 18 by the time they travel on our gap year opportunities. There may be some leeway if they turn 18 within a few weeks of arrival.
We are also aware of a number of other opportunities for your gap year. Each of these opportunities is outwith the school but we are always happy to give advice on applications. Please note that each will have their own deadlines.
The Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarship
Between 25 to 30 scholarships of £200–£800 are available to support Gap Year projects. In addition, one or two scholarships of £1000 may be awarded to candidates whose financial needs are such that a gap year project would be impossible without such an award.
Previous winners of the scholarship from GWC in were:
Simon Ezra-Jackson who worked with Project Trust in Honduras (class of 2022)
Olivia Cash who worked with Project Trust in Senegal (class of 2019)
The latest date for applications is May each year, although we advise you to apply early.
