Pathway 1: Graduation requirements GWA High School Diploma


In order to earn the George Washington Academy High School Diploma, students must achieve

course credits in Grades 9 and 10 as outlined in the table below.


In Grades 11 and 12, students must:

English -4 credits

Language Acquisition - 4 credits, Moroccan citizens* require 2 Arabic credits

Individuals & Societies- 4 credits

Science - 4 credits

Mathematics- 4 credits

Arts- 1 credit

PHE- 2 credits, must include Health

1Students are exempt from internal assessments, except individual orals in Languages, the experimental study in Psychology, scientific investigations in Sciences, and the exhibition in Visual Arts.


2 The Research Paper is an independent research project written in one of the course subjects studied, about a topic of the student’s choice, of a maximum of 2500 words.


3 For each subject studied at Higher Level (HL) in Grades 11 and 12, a full point is added to the grade for the subject in the GPA calculation. The point is added as long as the student studies the subject in Higher Level. If the student does not sit the final IB exam for the subject, the grade achieved in the mock exams will be taken as the final grade counting toward the GWA transcript, including the extra point for each Higher Level subject.




Pathway 2: GWA High School Diploma plus IB DP Course Certificates


Students may opt to pursue International Baccalaureate Certificates for specific courses, for

instance, when their university requires or recommends these. IB Diploma Programme Course

Certificates may make students eligible for course credits at their college or university.


Course certificates can be taken at a standard or higher level. Students can choose to sit from 1

to 6 subjects and any component of the DP Core (i.e. the Extended Essay or Theory of

Knowledge).

Attainment requirements IB DP Course Certificates

In order to earn an IB Diploma Programme Course Certificate, students must:

● Successfully complete the internal assessment component of the course (IA or IO);

Successfully complete the external assessment exams of the course in May of Grade 12;

● Achieve a final grade of 4 or higher in the course.





Pathway 3: GWA High School Diploma plus International Baccalaureate Diploma



The most rigorous program offered at GWA is the full two-year IB Diploma for Grade 11 and 12

students. The IB Diploma is highly regarded by colleges and universities around the world. When successful, students receive the IB Diploma in addition to the GWA High School Diploma.



Graduation requirements IB Diploma

To earn the IB Diploma, students must:

Successfully complete six courses: three at Standard Level and three at Higher Level;

● Meet the Creativity, Activity, Service program requirements;

Successfully complete the Theory of Knowledge course;

Successfully complete the Extended Essay;

● Achieve a minimum of 24 points in all subjects;

● Achieve a minimum of 12 points in the Higher Level subjects;
