Where in the world do you start?
If you're anyhing like me, you are a young music educator who is overwhelmed at the amount of things we need to be prepared to do in our future classrooms. Jazz pedagogy especially is something that is often not explored as much in undergrad programs. Through an Independent Study with Dr. Dave Stamps at Gustavus Adolphus College, I sought to expand my knowledge of the basics of jazz pedagogy, and while these materials only scratch the surface of what it is to teach and make music with a jazz ensemble, I hope this provides a solid starting point for you as it has for me.
