In PSHE, a lot of learning is done through discussion and listening to others, ensuring that all children at Gurnard Primary School are able to access and contribute equally. Whether individually, in pairs or in groups, all children have the opportunity to express their opinion and have their voice heard. Inclusive task design is used to ensure that all children are able to access learning and show their understanding.
Across the school, Zones of Regulation are used to support children to manage their emotions. This is a visual tool which helps them to identify, understand and communicate their feelings. Children are regularly reminded that all feelings are valid and human, but that some feelings are more comfortable than others. This approach is not only taught in PSHE lessons, but is used broadly to support children learning to self-regulate.
