Africa: The climate of Africa is a range of climates such as the equatorial climate, the tropical wet and dry climate, the tropical monsoon climate, the semi-desert climate, the desert climate, the subtropical highland climate.
Miami: Miami has a tropical monsoon climate with hot and humid summers and short, warm winters, with a marked drier season in the winter. Its sea-level elevation, coastal location, position just above the Tropic of Cancer, and proximity to the Gulf Stream shape its climate.

Pygmy Hippopotamus
Biome: lowland tropical forest and swampland
Physical Description:Pygmy Hippos are mammals. They usually are found in hot lowland rain forest. Their skin is light grey, dark pink, pink with leather like skin. They can grow up to 5 feet to 5 and a half feet. They can weight 350-600 pounds. They are herbivores. the can live up to 40 years at most.
Diet: Herbivores
Biome Reasoning: They live in swampy area because during the day they sit in the water then at night they eat but during mating season at night they look for a female
Chimpanzee
Physical Description: Chimpanzees are large primates that have long black hairs that cover their entire body. Their hair keeps them warm in cold place and provides protection from the sun.The hairless parts of their body are light or dark brown depending on their age. Their ears are large and they have very good hearing. Their eyes are very good at seeing things from far and close up. they can also reach a height of 5.5 ft and weight up to 154 pounds.
Biome: tropical, humid rain-forests to the dryer and more arid regions of the savanna and open woodlands
Diet:Omnivores
Biome Reasoning: to keep them from predators and for protection
Lowland Gorilla
Biome: Jungles, Forest
Physical Description: Gorillas are in the Ape Family & their specific name is Gorilla. They are mammals & omnivores. When gorilla's are in a group they are refereed to as a troop. They usually live up to 35 years. Gorillas standing average height is 4'6 & their average weight is 150 to 400 pounds.
Diet:Herbivores
Biome Reasoning: So that the have an abundance of food supply and a place to sleep because gorillas sleep in the trees.
Zoo Animals

Lowland Nyala
Biome: dense thickets, forest, and open-thicket woodlands
Physical Description: Females are significantly smaller with a chestnut color coat which is short haired , while males are dark brown to grey with a long, shaggy coats. Males also have horns and a mane that runs along their neck and spine, while females just have the horns.
Animal Diet: Herbivore
Area of continent at the zoo where the Lowland Nyala lives is Africa. They live in a fenced in very remote area with 3-4 trees that they can eat from and places to sleep next to rocks like caves where they rest.
Giant Eland
Biome: broad-leafed savanna, woodlands, forests, fringes of deserts
Physical Description: Giant Elands have spiraled horns.They are bigger than a original Eland or antelope. On average they measure to 9.5 ft in length. Giant elands exhibit sexual dimorphism, as males are larger than females. The males weigh 880 to 2,200 lb and females weigh 660 to 1,320 lb. The tail is long, having a dark tuft of hair, and averages 35 inches in length. The life expectancy of giant elands is up to 25 years in the wild, and about 20 years in captivity.
Diet: Herbivores
Area of continent at the zoo where the eland lives is Africa. Thy have their own watering hole and have a cave where they are able to sleep. The entire area is fenced in.
African Crested Porcupine
Biome: rain forest
Physical Description: They are black, brown with white thorns. their quails can grow to 1 to 13 inches. When threatened they raise their quails to 12 to 13 inches. African crested porcupines are 24 to 36 inches long, not counting their 3 to 6 ½ inch tail. They weigh between 22 and 66 pounds. They live about 20 years, both in the wild and in captivity.
Diet: Herbivores
Area of continent at the zoo where the porcupine lives is Africa. They live on a fenced in plain. They rest in a dog-house like shelter. Their is a big tree that covers the entire plain which makes it very shady.
PLANTS: Commun Plants in Africa
Sausage tree (Kigelia africana): The genus comprises only one species. The Kigelia grows a fruit that grows up to 2 feet long, weighs about 15 lbs, and looks like sausage.

The biomes incorporated in the zoo are jungle like habitats ,rain forest like habitats, swampy like habitats
2.What is the weather like in the biomes within the continent at the zoo?
The weather is hot and humid or raining and humid
3.How much perspiration do the biomes receive annually at the zoo?
They only receive rain so not a lot except for during spring where it rains the most
4.What is the most interesting fact you found out about a biome within the continent at the zoo?
That most interesting thing is that they try to make it look like home but with toys to play with and even though its not as wide as the wild it has very big spaces
