Karin Shaw

Mrs. Shaw is the Math Specialist at Pine Bush Elementary School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1996 and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the College of Saint Rose in 2002.

Mrs. Shaw spent ten years as a first grade teacher at the Henry Johnson Charter School in Albany before advancing to several math specific roles including kindergarten math teacher, math academic intervention services teacher, and instructional coach for math.

In 2017, Mrs. Shaw began working at Guilderland Elementary School as a part time math specialist. After Covid, her position expanded to full time to provide remote math support to students learning from home. In the Fall of 2021, Mrs. Shaw joined the faculty at PBES as their new math specialist. She also serves as the director of the PBES Math Olympiad team, which earned the “Meritorious Award” and “High Achievement” awards last year for outstanding team performance!

Mrs. Shaw lives in Scotia with her husband, son, and two cats. She enjoys reading, yoga, travel, birding, and spending time with friends and family.
