The purpose of the Sunnyslope High School Student Career Center is to provide students with information in
college admissions,
financial aid,
military interest,
career exploration,
resumes,
and the general post-secondary education planning process.
The Student Career Center is located in Room K120A, the Career Advisor is Deirdre Eagar.

Congrats to our 2024 seniors & Cooper Shillington who was appointed to the Naval Academy with a 400K scholarship. These accomplishments are a reflection of our amazing students and the parents, teachers and admin who support them.

On March 23rd, Sunnyslope hosted Junior Parent Night that also included a presentation from Larry Van Quathem from Able Financial. Larry can be reached at larry@ablefinancialgroup.com. Sunnyslope High School's 2022 College & Career Fair took place on November 3rd. Students were able to visit with represetatives, from university, military & career options. Students also spent time in class taking a interest inventory and learning about career opportunities.
Sunnyslope High School's 2022 Parent Open House took place on Thursday, August 25th. All parents were invited on campus to attend grade level presentations by the Counseling Departments.

The Senior Honors & Awards Presentation was held April 27th, 2022. Seniors who notified us of their out-of-state scholarships, as well as top 10%, students with in-state & local scholarships were recognized.
So far 2022 seniors have accumulated over 15 million in 4 year scholarships. We are still accepting scholarship information, so we know this number will grow over the coming weeks before graduation.
Congrats to our 2022 seniors who received local scholarships & a special shout out to Samuel MacDonald who was awarded an Appointment from the US Merchant Marine Academy & Ezri Tylor who will attend Vanderbilt on a full scholarship. These accomplishments are a reflection of our amazing students and the parents, teachers and admin who support them.

Junior Parent Night was held on April 11th with both presentations in English and Spanish. For many parents this is their first experience with the FAFSA, scholarship & college application process. Students and Parents are able to meet with Mrs. Eagar, the College & Career Advisor. Make appointments via Calendly.

The Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC) is a non-profit professional association consisting of over 500 people from secondary and post-secondary institutions. RMACAC serves students in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. This year RMACAC will be hosting a free college fair at Arizona State University Tempe campus, the fair is open to all students and their families. This is a great opportunity for students and their families to come out and interact with over 100 colleges and universities.
The fair will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 12:00p - 2:00p Arizona time at Arizona State University (Sun Devil Fitness Complex, 400 E. Apache Blvd., Tempe, AZ 85287). Parking will be available in the Apache Parking structure for students and families. While inside any ASU buildings, masks are required for all people, regardless of vaccination status.
College & Career Fair 2021
All students were encouraged to participate in our lunch fair on campus for the week of November 15th-19th. Various colleges, as well as a few trade employers were able to be on campus and share with students.
Some students too advantage of the opportunity to talk to recruiters and find out what skills are necessary to get into college or get a job in the trades.
Goodwill and Arizona Work were also on campus to share ways students can get job help while in HS and after graduation.

Sunnyslope is proud of it's 3 QuestBridge Match Students. Two of the full tuition recipients explain in this video how important the Scholar Program was to their acceptance in the QuestBridge Match.
The 2021 College Prep Scholars Program application is now open! The deadline is Wednesday, March 24
Eligibility: Any high school junior, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the U.S. is eligible for the College Prep Scholars Program. Additionally, U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents living abroad are eligible for the program. International students living outside the U.S. are not eligible.
Applicants must be high school juniors who are planning to apply to college during the fall of their senior year.
Congrats to our seniors who have reached 52% FAFSA completion in January. We are up 10% from last year. It is exciting that so many of our seniors have taken the opportunity see if they can get federal funds for college!
Along with this award one of our seniors will also receive a $500 scholarship from the AZ FAFSA Challenge. The application is open to all seniors who completed the FAFSA.
Select 9th, 10th & 11th graders were invited to GUHSD 5th Annual Pathway to America's Top Colleges & Universities Night that was held on January 7th, 2021. All students are welcome to the information provided.

In October, 2020 Sunnyslope was ranked #5 for FAFSA completion. By November, we moved up to #1.
