This page is the support page for the CREATE PT Boot Camp.
Our class Boot Camp roughly follows Unit 8: CREATE PT from the Code.org Curriculum:
Chapter and/or Lesson names below match what you see in Code.org to make it easier to stay on track. However, please pay close attention to the modifications as we make many modifications to the Code.org curriculum in this unit.
If you have a question, or something doesn't make sense on this page, post something to the PARKING LOT or talk to your teacher during class.
Code.org: U8 (CREATE PT) L1 (Review the Task)
Modifications: Follow the Activities listed on this page (rather than what's listed in Code.org)
Notes:
There is very little to do on the Code.org site for Lesson 1. Instead, we will use the Activities section below to review the important documents for this lesson.
Open up and bookmark the following links for future reference:
We will review the official directions during class. We will be using the official scoring rubric to do our own scoring of projects during this Boot Camp.
Code.org: U8 (CREATE PT) L2 (Deep Dive)
Modifications: Follow the Activities listed on this page (rather than what's listed in Code.org)
Notes:
There is very little to do on the Code.org site for Lesson 2. Instead, we will use the Activities section below to review the important documents for this lesson.
The videos below were created by Code.org. While not official student samples, they are representative of the types of videos you will need to create for your CREATE PT.
In the next activity we will review the scoring for these videos. For now, watch the video and make note of the length and how the user "demonstrates" the project.
Your AP Reader can tell a lot about your program just by watching what you show in your video. And, like it or not, it's likely going to establish a bias in your reader on whether or not your project is capable of receiving all 6 points on the rubric. Therefore, when you make your video, it is imperative that you make the best first impression you can.
Take a moment to watch these videos now (we will also watch them together as a class):

If you need to use list, why not find your own dataset to use in your project?

Remember this is just a guideline. You may complete the task in any order that makes sense to you.
. . . although I would strongly suggest you follow something close to what is described in this timeline.

Code.org: U8 (CREATE PT) L4 (Complete the Task)
Modifications: Follow the Activities listed on this page (rather than what's listed in Code.org)
Notes:
Level 2 of this lesson gives you space to create your project. I would strongly recommend that you just use a blank AppLab project to build your CREATE PT. In the end, though, it really doesn't matter where you build your project as you will eventually create a PDF file of your code to submit to the College Board.
The only activity here is to build your project. Good luck!
