Did you know that it is not legal to just use any image that you find on the web for your presentations or other projects?
What can you use? Images that are licensed with Creative Commons are okay for you to use for school work under most conditions. There are multiple ways to find Creative Commons Images. Below are two options for you to try.
Go to Google Images: images.google.com
Type in search keywords to get results.
From the search results page:
Click on the Tools button.
A row of filter tools will pop up. Click on the Usage Rights drop-down menu and select Creative Commons licenses.
Your image search results will now just show images that have Creative Commons licenses.
Locate an image that you would like to use and click on it:
More details about the image will appear in a pane that pops up on the right side of your screen.
In the right-side pane:
Right-click (hold ALT and tap) on the image to copy it and paste it into your presentation. NOTE: You will still need to gather information to add an attribution.
Click on the image to open the image on its web page source. Gather information to create an attribution for it on your slide where you pasted the image:
Title of image (if there is one)
Name/username of creator (if you can find one)
Source (hyperlinked to website where image is from)
License type (including version)
Sample attribution:
“Sagrada Familia 01” by Bernard Gagnon, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 3.0
There are many sites that offer Creative Commons images, but below are a few good ones to try.
WARNING: Watch out for embedded ads for images that are not actually "free."
