Timyra Payne lowered her PR to 24.35 en route to winning the 200 meters at the CIF Section Championships and punching her ticket to the state meet.
Junior Elekana Ta’A also had a PR with a throw of 49’10.25” and earned a spot on the podium with a fourth-place finish.

Congratulations to our boys volleyball team! They end their season as League Champions & CIF runnerups after a fantastic season. We are so proud of them and look forward to next year.
The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams combined for 30 medals at the Grossmont Conference league meet.
On the boys’ side, the 4x800 relay team of Adrian Gonzalez, Isaac Valverde, Lex Little and Rudy Vazquez won the Grossmont Valley league title, while Little added an individual league title in the 800, Mohamed Osman was the top performer in the 300 hurdles, and Elekana Taa won the shot put. On the girls’ side, Timyra Payne posted the fourth fastest time in San Diego county in the 200 en route to a league title, while also joining Marely Velazquez Varela, Nyla Jack and Deana Cerna on top of the podium in the 4x100 relay. Freshman standout Melissa Velazquez Varela capped off the meet by earning an automatic berth to CIF by virtue of her top showing in the 3200.
Our boys volleyball team claimed the Valley League Championship title! Follow their journey through the CIF playoffs here. Congratulations, and best of luck, boys!
A 2020 graduate of Monte Vista, Sebastian Valdez played 3 season with Montana State and 1 season with the University of Washington. Now, he has signed with the San Fransisco 49ers and begins his career in the NFL. Monte Vista is incredibly proud and will be cheering him on!

Congratulations to our Boys Soccer team! For the third year in a row, they are league champions - this year, tying with Steele Canyon. They earned the 6 seed in Division 2 playoffs and ended their season just short of CIF Champions in the semi-finals.
Congratulations to our girls soccer team! They earned the 13th seed in Division 3. Unfortunately, they fell to the #4 seed, Escondido Charter, in the first round. Despite this, they had a great season, and we look forward to what next year brings.

Congratulations to Monte Vista's football team, the new Division 6A Southern CA Regional Champions! They will move on to the STATE finals, Sat. Dec. 14 @ 3:00 against Summerville High School at Fullerton UHSD Stadium. Tickets are only available for sale using GoFan.
Congratulations to Rahshawn Florence for breaking a school record previously set by Kenny Carroll in 1981. Rahshawn broke Kenny's record of 44 receptions and 801 yards with his 45 receptions and 1035 receiving yards. Congratulations again, Rahshawn!

Rushing Leader
Monte Vista's Alex Villanueva made his way to number one on the list of all-time section single season rushing leaders with 3,007 yards after a phenomenal game in the CIF championship game against Bonita Vista.

Adrian Gonzalez and Melissa Velazquez Varela (not pictured) earned CIF Honors with top 20 finishes at the CIF race Saturday, 11/16. Congratulations to both runners!
Melissa Velazquez Varela finished runner up in the Grossmont Valley Conference Championship.
Monte Vista's Boys' Cross Country team finished second overall in the Grossmont Valley Conference. Adrian Gonzlez is LEAGUE CHAMPION for the Valley Conference.

On Monday, April 23rd 2024, Monte Vista's baseball team played our Spring Valley rivals, Mount Miguel High School. The Monarchs came out with the big win of 9-2. It was a once in a lifetime experience for our boys and we are incredibly grateful to the Padres for the opportunity.
