Monte Vista 2D Art
Welcome to the Monte Vista Drawing and Painting Program
This website is meant to provide information about our art program as well as an online gallery space for student artwork.
The goal of this program is to expose students to various styles of art and different techniques for creating art. We will focus on creating art pieces using a variety of media while learning specific skills and techniques to advance student outcomes. Lessons will adhere to the California State High School Art Standards with an emphasis on the Elements and Principles of Art as they relate to drawing and painting. Students will have the opportunity to expand their current skills as well as learn new ones and will be able to be creative within the individual assignments themselves.
Learning how to create art takes time, patience, and the ability to understand that certain skills and techniques are needed in order to be successful. It is not about talent or ability. It is about practice and learning and the willingness to take risks.
