Intermediate Art (Art 3/4) is a year long course of study for students who have taken Beginning Art and would like to continue their studies. Students will build upon what they learned in beginning art while acquiring new skills in the areas of drawing, painting, and the use of the Elements and Principles of Art.
First semester, students will learn different ways of mark making as well as the Japanese and Turkish techniques for paper marbling. They will then learn how to use oil pastels in a Cubism and Fragmentation project before switching to landscapes and painting techniques that include watercolor, tempera, and acrylic. They will wrap up the semester with a pen and ink project of their choosing.
Second semester, students will create portraits that can be indirect, realistic, or abstracted. Then they will learn about distortion and how water, glass and other materials can distort objects. After distortion, they will move onto 2 and 3pt Perspective before wrapping up the year with a Social Awareness project where they can choose any topic that interests them to create an art piece that makes the viewer aware of that interest.
This section is a work in progress. It will have current student artwork up soon.
