Important Information regarding dual enrollment courses
What is a dual enrollment course?
Dual enrollment means that a high school student is enrolled in a college class at the high school campus during the regular bell schedule. It is imperative to understand that opting into taking a dual enrollment course means you are taking a community college course and you will have to follow the community college guidelines and expectations.
What dual enrollment courses are offered?
Arabic 120 - An introductory course to the Arabic language and the cultures of its speakers. This course is designed for students with very little or no knowledge of Arabic. It facilitates the practical application of the language in everyday oral and written communication at the beginning level. Since the focus will be on basic communication skills, the class will be conducted in Arabic as much as possible. Students will learn structures that will enable them to function in Arabic in everyday contexts while becoming familiar with the Arabic speaking world.
Satisfies General Education for: Grossmont & Cuyamaca College; Transfers to: CSU, UC
Dropping a dual enrollment course:
If you decide to drop a dual enrollment course after the community college drop deadline (see here) it will show on your transcript that you withdrew from the course by listing it on your transcript with a W.
There is a deadline where you are not allowed to drop any community college course (see same link above). The course will be listed on your transcript with your final grade in the class.
The W does not impact your college GPA. It can impact your financial aid over time as it counts as attempted units. For any questions regarding financial aid, please see the website here.
If you have a medical issue, you can request a medical withdrawal by using this Grossmont College General Petition form. If accepted, this will show on your transcript as a EW (excused withdrawal) and it will not impact your future financial aid.
Grading Scales
A passing grade with Grossmont and Cuyamaca College is a C. A grade of D+ or lower will be considered a No Pass on your college transcript.
