We welcome your student to El Capitan High School and are glad for them to become a part of our Vaquero Family! In previous years, incoming freshmen have received a "Welcome Packet" with information about our school regarding clubs, sports, ASB, PTSA, and more. This year we have gone virtual! This page will include everything you need to get your student registered for high school. We are looking forward to partnering with you to help all of our students strive for academic and personal excellence.

Three Steps to Becoming a Vaquero:
1) Online Registration, 2) Incoming Freshman Registration, and 3) Course Selections
Step 1: Online Registration
Complete Online Registration prior to April 22nd. The School Choice window closed on February 23rd at 4:00 PM. School Choice results will be available mid-March. Click here for more information on School Choice.
Please ensure your student's birth certificate, immunization record, and 2 proofs of residency are saved on your computer and are ready to be uploaded.

Step 2: Incoming Freshman Registration
(Document Collection, School Pictures, and Spirit Pack Purchases)
Return ALL registration documents (see below for what's required) to ECHS during Incoming Freshman Registration on April 23rd-24th from 4:00-7:00pm. Please note, if the required documents were uploaded online during Online Registration, you do not need to bring them to Incoming Freshman Registration night. (If you are unable to attend this event, you may also upload all documents to this Form or bring them to the school office.)

Required Registration Documents:
The birth certificate, immunization record, and 2 proofs of residency are to be submitted during Online Registration. You may also submit them via this Document Upload Form. The Acknowledgement of Receipt of Documents will be provided at Incoming Freshman Registration.

These documents are optional and may be turned in during Incoming Freshman Registration night or in-person at El Capitan High School. Please see Rudy Sarmiento in the Student Support Building (main office).

Step 3: Course Selections
Course selections will become available in mid-March. Visit this page for everything you need to know from the El Capitan High School Guidance Department.
Optional: 2024 Incoming 9th Grade Summer School Application
El Capitan will be running Summer School for Incoming Freshmen June 14 - June 28. June 19th is a holiday and there will be no school. While there is only one session, if there is enough interest we will be running TWO periods during these dates. Period 1 is 7:30 am - 11:00 am and Period 2 is 11:45 am - 3:15 pm. Each period allows a student the opportunity to complete one 5 credit course. However, students MAY be able to attend BOTH periods and complete TWO five credit courses. All summer school courses are in person on our campus. There is NO distance learning summer school. Though we are in the very beginning stages of preparing for Summer School, we wanted to start gathering information from all students who are interested in participating.
Summer School spots are filled based on the completion of this form. Classes will fill up, so please submit the form ASAP. We encourage students and parents to complete this form together to prevent duplicate entries!
