Welcome to Ms. Anders' Website
WELCOME!
My name is Abigail Anders. I teach world geography and history here at El Capitan High School. Everything we do for my classes is on Schoology (guhsd.schoology.com). All students should access this website and automatically see our classroom. If you have ANY problems, please text or call the phone number below or email me. Please note that the drop-down calendar in the above tabs are NOT CURRENT. All resources have moved to Schoology.
Please feel free to call or email me anytime with questions or concerns.

Part 1 (above). A couple years later (below). Traveled his way around the world, bringing people together to dance. Many of these countries have serious political tension. Drives home the notion that we are all bonded by our common humanity.
Critical Thinking is a core element of both geography and history. These are questions that students will be asked regularly about every unit we study:
What does this really mean? Can I explain it to someone else? Can I relate it to my experience with examples? If this is true, what else might or must be true?Demand evidence for what people tell you and what you read and see.
Look for multiple perspectives.
Avoid confirmation bias.
Try to understand before deciding anything.
Investigate: Look it up from independent sources such as Factcheck.org (Annenberg Center for Public Policy)
The students are also expected to ask relevant and engaging questions about each unit during the daily discussion. Active, engaged participation is an integral part of this course!
PLEASE watch these and be careful to stay in control of your priorities. Below: a few min. Right: 15 min. Put your ear buds in and pay attention; especially if you might be an Instagram, Snapchat, Fortnight, or (??) addict. Tristan Harris (video on right) worked for the companies who profit on the dopamine pleasure your brain gets from those apps. They are making millions off of your need to constantly check progress, notifications, likes, or posts.
