Community Schools Design Pillars: Integrated Student Supports, Expanded/Enriched Learning Time, Community and Family Engagement, Collaboration
Goal 1: 21st Century Learning and Academic Success
Through a rigorous and relevant curriculum, all students will be fully supported as they work towards proficiency in the Common Core State Standards and the 6 C’s of DEEP Learning/21st Century: collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, character, and citizenship.
This will be accomplished through the following action areas:
Highly Trained Staff

School Readiness
1.1 Highly Trained Staff
Ensure highly trained staff (teachers, administrators, instructional assistants) that support and encourage student achievement for all students.
Research-based and applicable professional development (including, AVID, Teacher Induction Program and Supports, Universal Lesson Design, Blended Learning/Flipped Classroom, Differentiated Instruction, Personalized Learning, and Educational Equity);
Provide optional opportunities for individual professional development growth year-round (i.e. unit credits, professional conferences/symposiums, AVID Institute, in-person/online training, etc.);
Provide effective ongoing feedback during evaluation cycles and routine instructional rounds for all instructional staff;
Ongoing opportunities for teacher collaboration and reflection via Professional Learning Communities (PLC);
Leadership capacity building opportunities (i.e. Site Leadership Team, stipend positions, mentoring, etc.);
Ample classroom budgets for the unique and innovative needs of each classroom;
Ensure instructional day remains increased by 20 minutes daily K-8, for a total of 3,600 annual minutes (60 hours);
Provide access to and enrollment in programs and services developed and provided to unduplicated pupils and individuals with exceptional needs; and
Analyze various data sources to determine student outcomes in the areas of English, English Language Development (ELD), Mathematics, Social Science, Science, Visual and Performing Arts, Health, and Physical Education.
1.2 English Language Arts and Social Science
Implement and increase achievement on ELA and Social Science Standards for all grade levels.
Implement WICOR AVID Strategies schoolwide
Monitor student progress via 6-8 week learning cycles and benchmark assessments (Lexia, STAR,etc)
Purchase necessary standards-aligned instructional materials and resources
Enhance classroom libraries
Provide small differentiated group instruction and/or assignments
Provide ongoing avenues for personalized learning and student inquiry
Provide small differentiated group instruction, 1:1 support and/or assignments with the additional support of a .45 FTE Instructional Assistant
1.3 Math and Science
Implement and increase achievement on mathematics and science standards (NGSS) for all grade levels.
Implement K-8 STEAM strategies schoolwide
Monitor student progress via 6-8 week learning cycles and benchmark assessments (i.e. Dreambox, STAR, etc)
Purchase necessary standards-aligned instructional materials and resources, including Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) curriculum
Provide small differentiated group instruction and/or assignments
Offer ongoing avenues for personalized learning and student inquiry
1.4 School Readiness
Implement Universal PreKindergarten Plan in 2022-2023 and work with local community-based organizations (e.g. River to Coast, First 5 Sonoma, etc.), local preschools and participate in county initiatives such as READY (Road to Early Achievement and Development of Youth) to help prepare all students for kindergarten and beyond.
Expand Universal Transitional Kindergarten Program Age Limit in order to provide full-day TK services to all students who turn 5 by the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
Ongoing ECE (Early Child Education) staff development training and opportunities
Formalize preschool and community-based organization partnerships (See Goal 3.3)
Provide early parent outreach opportunities and referral resources
Facilitate Health, Wellness, and early literacy screenings/supplies
