About

Our Mission: “Seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”

Our Vision: “A world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity (GVHFH) is an affiliate of the global nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, Habitat for Humanity International. Recognizing the local need for modest, affordable housing, the Rev. Dr. Arthur Preisinger, Paul Bonner, and Gene Schmidt joined together in 1993 to establish the local Habitat affiliate. Since then, GVHFH has partnered with nearly 30 families to build decent, affordable housing in Seguin, with hopes to expand to other parts of Guadalupe County in the near future. We build homes in partnership with families in need in Guadalupe County, then sell the homes, at cost, to the partner families using a no- interest mortgage loan. The income from those mortgages, in turn, helps provide the financial resources to build future Habitat homes.

GVHFH has an open-door policy, welcoming volunteers, supporters, and partner families from all backgrounds and ethnicities, and from all or no religious affiliations to serve people in need of decent affordable housing. We do not require that applicants convert to a particular faith or listen to any message in exchange for housing assistance. Our primary mission is to build homes in partnership with families in need in Guadalupe County, then sell the homes to the partner families at our cost for materials and provide a no interest mortgage loan.
