As instructors, we have many daily needs and make use of several programs and processes. The resources in this section are meant to help you with those frequently asked questions. The Class Roster Early Alert application with Brightspace/MyGateway lets faculty submit alerts for students in their current courses. Alerts trigger automated messages or personal outreach, ensuring students receive the right support and resources at the right time.
MyGateway is your online portal for access to HR resources, your instructor schedule and rosters, mid-term and final grades, and various resources you can use to aid you in your duties at Gateway. If you haven't used MyGateway, please review the introductory document.
The Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) is a Wisconsin Law that establishes the minimum academic, occupational, and teaching requirements for the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS). New adjunct faculty have three years to achieve full FQAS qualification. For additional information on FQAS, please review Gateway's convenient slide show. Brightspace is Gateway's Learning Management System (LMS). After years with BlackBoard, Gateway shifted to D2L's dynamic Brightspace platform in 2024. Getting to know our LMS is essential to your teaching and to student success. These resources are meant to help you get a jumpstart on Brightspace and all it has to offer.
Professional Development
SPOT (self-paced online training) courses were designed by the Teaching & Learning team to provide you with an opportunity for self-paced professional development on both Teaching Methods and Technology. The topics are varied, but if you see something you're interested in learning about that does not already have a course, please reach out and we can put something together for you.
Teaching Resources
While this is not all-inclusive, these resources can certainly help you gain your footing, especially if you're new to teaching. You'll find that being an educator is a process of trial and error to learn what works for you and what works for your students, and your practices will likely change over time. Keep working! Gateway's Learning Innovation Division includes distance learning, information systems, and our Tech Central team. Tech Central serves as Gateway's Technology help desk. It's your first line of defense when experiencing technology issues. These resources will help you learn about and utilize Tech Central to the best of your abilities.

Zoom is a video conferencing platform. Gateway adopted the platform in 2020 and has leveraged the technology for phone calls, text messaging, meetings, and teaching synchronous online classes. The resources in this section will help you get to know the program.
Gateway is a Google college. For that reason, we make heavy use of the Google platform and it's dynamic tools. Our Faculty email is hosted by the GMail service.
