Welcome to the 10-Day Challenge!

Over the next 10 days, you’ll be learning the Brightspace basics to help prepare you for our new LMS implementation. The platform is quite different from Blackboard and is full of bright shiny bells and whistles you’re sure to enjoy! To get started, take a look at this overview video.

Sign Up for Brightspace Training

Your task today is to sign up for the Brightspace Training Community. Take your time completing the modules. They're meant to provide you with an overview of what you can do with Brightspace. Need instructions on how to sign up or trouble shoot?

If you don't have an account, you will need to create one by clicking Sign up now. Here's a helpful video about the community.

Create Your Instructor Profile

Today, take some time to create an instructor profile widget. You can share important information about your schedule or yourself. Let students get to know you and where to find you.

Add The Standardized Blueprint

Your task for today is to add this "Standardized Blueprint" to one of your course shells or your sandbox. The "Blueprint" replaces the standardized course shell you're familiar with.

Today, we're shifting focus to the mobile capabilities of Brightspace. Download the Brightspace Pulse app to your phones and/or tablets.

Create A Video/Audio Note

Today, you'll be playing with the voice note and video note options in Brightspace. These are great multimedia tools to use with students.

Create An Announcement

Now, let's play with the announcements feature in Brightspace. There are a ton of great options for customization and release. Make sure to add an image to your announcement so you get a feel for how the multimedia tools work.

Create Two Module Folders

Now that you're a little more familiar with the Brightspace environment, we're going to work on building course "Modules" or "Units" in one of your classes or sandboxes. For today, create two module areas. You do not need to fully build the modules (though, you can). We're just creating space for you to fill up later!

Create A File in A Module

We're here! It's the last day! Today you're going to create a file in one of the modules or units you created. Navigate to your module or unit and select "Upload/Create", then choose "Create a File". This will bring you to the Brightspace Textbox. You can type directly into the textbox and/or use the "Insert Stuff" option to add a video, link, or Google document. You have lots of options to choose from to add content to your course and your file can be instructions, resources, or an assignment.
