Display case of medical instruments and specimens at the UNSW Museum of Human Disease

One of the best moments of our study abroad adventure in Australia was visiting the Museum of Human Disease in Sydney today. A couple of my classmates and I got to explore this fascinating museum, where we learned about various diseases and medical conditions through real human specimens. It was such an eye-opening experience that really brought our classroom lessons on anatomy and pathology to life. Seeing how different diseases affect the human body deepened our appreciation for the importance of prevention, treatment, and educating patients. Even though we couldn’t take photos out of respect for the donors, the experience was truly both fascinating and educational, reinforcing so many concepts we've tackled in our program.

After the museum, another classmate and I decided to explore Sydney on foot. We had a blast wandering around the city, and we made a stop at Paddy's Markets, where we soaked up the local culture, grabbed some souvenirs, and talked with vendors from all sorts of backgrounds. Navigating through a bustling city and managing our time on our own really helped boost our confidence and adaptability.

Later that evening, our whole study abroad group came together for a dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour. We enjoyed breathtaking views of iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge while sharing a delicious meal and reflecting on all the amazing experiences we had. The night wrapped up with a stunning fireworks display, creating a perfect and memorable end to an exciting day filled with learning, exploration, and cultural adventures!
