Today's students are more sedentary than ever. This lack of physical activity is associated with all sorts of negative health outcomes (diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and on and on...). As such, it seems counterintuitive that we spend so much time and effort focusing on educating students in all sorts of areas, yet we seem to be neglecting perhaps the most important area of all. Are we, as educators, doing everything we can to educate students about the importance of physical activity in their lives?
Why, in this day and age of technology in the classroom, don't we bring technology into the gym? With all the ways that technology can be used to augment traditional classroom instruction, I would think there must be some interesting ways in which the same can be true in a physical education setting. That's what this quest is all about. I'm challenging you to do some digging to uncover what new and wonderful technologies exist, which you could use to bolster your PE pedagogical practice.
Below you'll find a link to a short article that discusses the use of technology in the today's phys ed classroom. Give it a read to get some inspiration and then take a look around the web to see what's out there. I'll even give you a head start with some good resources on the topic.
Enjoy! Let's get kids moving with technology. If PokemonGo can do it, we can too.

Consider what you read in the article about how technology is currently incorporated into physical education. Now think reflect on your ideas about how technology can be used to augment physical education. Your task is to find 3-4 technologies that could be used in a physical education setting to help promote learning in some way. You should provide a brief description of the technology, as well as discuss how it might be used in a physical education class. Feel free to take a look at https://thepegeek.com or http://www.iphys-ed.com to get some ideas.
Please remember to NOT submit any work which does not conform to these givens:
All instructions followed carefully and completely.
Time on Task: Engagement in the quest is substantial enough to warrant the XP for the quest. A 60 XP quest has what looks like approximately 60 - 70 minutes of work completed.
Engagement is thoughtful and meaningful: Obvious attempts have been made to engage in the content of the quest in a way that is meaningful to the person completing the quest. View Exemplars which demonstrate this Given (Critical Reflection Exemplars are a good starting point)
Undergraduate Level Engagement: Evidence of fairly deep handling of the topic; references made to assigned reading|viewing; connections made between assigned reading|viewing and other referenced material; concepts fully explained; opinions fully backed up… View Exemplars which demonstrate this Given (Critical Reflection Exemplars are a good starting point)
It is the responsibility of the student to note when a quest has been returned or when there is an instructor comment on a quest.
