If this setting is enabled, it means that if you were to wipe/powerwash a Chromebook then it would be automatically re-enrolled in the domain. If you ever need to 'release' a Chromebook from your management (e.g. a student purchases it after a fixed period), you can turn this setting off and then powerwash it and it will become un-managed. For most use cases, we recommend forcing re-enrollment.
We would recommend putting the school address and a contact email or phone number so that if someone finds a disabled lost or stolen device, they may be able to return it to the school.
We would recommend that you do not allow guest mode, particularly for devices that will be used by students
Here we recommend that you restrict devices that students will be using to '*@yourschool.com'. If you are part of a MAT that uses multiple domains, you can enter multiple domains here.
Here we recommend the setting to use the domain name of your school for autocomplete. This essentially means that students only have to enter the first part of their email address when they sign in to a Chromebook - ideal for younger students.
We recommend choosing 'Never show user names and photos' when using shared devices. We will touch on another setting later that enables us to track which users have been using the Chromebooks that caches user profiles. By choosing this setting, it will make the sign in process much simpler for the students.
As discussed previously, we want to select 'Do not erase all local user data' as this will enable us to do device reporting later.
We recommend enabling both device state reporting and device user tracking.
