Electron and nuclear spins play important roles in a range of physical and chemical processes leading to unique phenomena including magnetic field effects on chemical reactions and hyperpolarization in electron and nuclear magnetic resonance. This special issue organised to coincide with the 18th International Symposium on Spin and Magnetic Field Effects in Chemistry and Related Phenomena (Spin Chemistry Meeting 2024) focuses on the latest developments across these areas.
Scope of the Special Issue:
The main scope of the special issue focused on ‘Spin effects in physics, chemistry and biology’ would be to offer highlights in the field covering the effects of electron and nuclear spins on physical and chemical processes and the impacts across biology, materials and information science.
In this special issue, we will explore the latest developments from the field of Spin Chemistry which have key impacts in fundamental science, including biological mechanisms such as photosynthesis and animal magnetoreception, and a broad range of technological applications including electro- and photo-active materials, light harvesting, quantum sensing and quantum information science.
Possible research topics include but are not limited to:
• Magnetic field effects in chemical and biological systems
• Chirality Induced Spin Selectivity
• Hyperpolarized electron spins in Electron Paramagnetic Resonance
• Hyperpolarized nuclear spins in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
• Biological radicals
• Spin effects in electro/optical materials
• Applications of spins in Quantum Information Science
• Spintronics
• Advances in the theory of spin effects
Submission deadline: 20 December 2024
We encourage researchers, engineers, scientists, clinicians, and students in related fields to submit their work for consideration in this special issue. All manuscripts will receive expedited handling and the accepted version will appear online within one week. Please note that every accepted paper is subjected to a processing fee as per Elsevier's open access journal policies.
