Group Five - Mathematics

How do we learn?

In almost all classes, teaching is done both visually and verbally alike. Students view a teacher explaining a concept on the board, and after they do exercises. Every now and again, students will work together in groups on particularly difficult concepts or exercises, as a way to improve learning.

How are we assessed in this subject?

The subject is mainly assessed through tests after each chapter, like most Mathematics courses out there, and through the two exams at the end of the of the course. As well as the mandatory IA, that you have in each subjects.

What is the workload in this subject?

The workload entirely depends on how well you wish to do in the subject. Putting a lot of effort in is very rewarding, but it is possible to pass the course with a decent grade without being the most interested in Mathematics, by putting in a little bit of time every now and again.

What do we learn in this subject?

Math Application and Interpretations s a math course suited for those who are adequate in mathematics, but do not feel they are strong enough for math analysis and approaches. It is not as difficult as math Analysis and Applications, but it still covers a wide range of topics, such as but not limited to Trigonometry, Logarithms, Statistics, Integrals and Calculus.

Math Application and Interpretation is a good base for students considering subjects such as Economics and Biology, but for individuals who want to consider Physics, HL math is more appropriate.
