Last week we finished up our colours theme with the colour green and favourite colour show and tell! We also started our unit on bears.
On Tuesday and Friday we read the book Green, and then engaged in a green science experiment. This time we explored with liquid densities and used pipettes to drop green, blue, and yellow water into trays of cooking oil. Some students were on a mission to make the liquids mix, while others simply enjoyed the satisfying experience of making colourful droplets in the oil trays.
Favourite Colour Show and Tell!
On Tuesday and Friday we also had bring your favourite colour show and tell. Please don't feel bad if you forgot, we have just begun the show and tell fun, and there will be plenty more opportunities in the future! If students forget an item, they find a toy or item from the classroom to share which still allows them to strengthen their speech and language skills and gain confidence speaking in front of others!
You can't have a bear theme without reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? We love this story so much we read it on both Wednesday and Thursday last week! We also went on a bear hunt in the gym as we worked our way through an obstacle course of "caves, trees, cliffs, lakes, and mud."
We are continuing to learn about each other's family heritages. These past two weeks we learned a bit about Scotland and Norway! We listened to a children's song from Scotland as well as the Itsy Bitsy Spider, sung in Norweigan. I have attached the songs below in case you want to enjoy them at home too.
We have also been acknowledging Black History Month here in EIPK. At the pre-k level, we do this by listening to and appreciating different songs and stories. I have attached a song we danced to, as well as a story we listened to below, so you can enjoy them at home as well.
