In this activity, the teacher can use the book, Fly Away Home, by Eve Bunting, as a forum to tackle this idea about what quality of life means.

Take your students on a trip to India. First pack a suitcase with what you need for the climate. Over 7 days, introduce different topics and have them imagine and journal about what they would experience in different parts of the country.

This project will have students create MyMaps, defining the continents as one layer, and then defining our different countries around the world; India, Tunisia, Ukraine and Peru.

3.S.3 - develop skills of geographic thinking: create and use a simple map to locate communities studied in the world, use cardinal and intermediate directions to locate places on maps and globes, apply the concept of relative location to determine locations of people and places, apply the terms hemisphere, poles, equator.

Finding Arrggghhh Directions: Students will create a pirate island with this template. They will add a compass rose, trees, hills, lakes, rivers, houses, and a path to the treasure. Student will then explain in writing how to get to the treasure from the ship using cardinal directions and landmarks.
