Schedule Information

Physical Education:

Mr. Wilson will be teaching our class PE this year (3 times a week).

Music:

Mrs. Olson will be teaching our class music this year (twice a week).

Library:

Library will begin the week of September 8th with Mme Rachel.

Our class will visit the library every Wednesday. Students will get to bring home 2 books each week. Please return the previous weeks books by Tuesday morning of each week in order to take home new books. 

If the books they choose are too hard for them to read on their own, I encourage you to look at the pictures or find letters they know within the books at this time of the year.  As well, it is a great opportunity to work on comprehension as you read the story to them.  Reading comprehension is the ability to understand written material and it provides a crucial link between learning and literacy.  It also helps to strengthen language and communication skills. You can help your child with reading comprehension by discussing what they read, questioning the meaning of words and the text, and providing opportunities for children to discuss their thoughts.  Reading comprehension is an important skill for children to develop early on.  It can help them not only with reading, but also with developing other skills such as memory and vocabulary. 

Recess:

First recess is 25 minutes long, lunch recess is 30 minutes long and the last recess is 20 minutes long. This means the students are outside for long periods of time throughout the day. Please ensure your child brings layers to school. It's always a good idea to pack some extra clothes in their backpacks in case of weather, accidents, etc.  Unfortunately, we do not have room to store extra clothing for each child in our classroom.
