Free Sites to support numeracy

Khan Academy has practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard. Various subjects are available. Teachers can add a Classroom class and track progress and assign tasks.

NOW FREE: Brain POP is a website with linked videos, questions, games and activities on various subjects.

Despite the name, Math Games is a suite of games and apps that link to common core standards from the ECS to Grade 8 level.

Prodigy is a free adaptive math game which allows users to work through different levels of math outcomes while piloting themselves through a simple role-playing quest.

Free sites to support literacy

Epic Thousands of free ebooks for students. Teachers can create a classroom account and have students sign in with a code.

FREE REMOTE ACCESS

Raz Kids, an online guided reading program with interactive ebooks, downloadable books, and reading quizzes. Now free as well. Link

Pobble is a very simple to use and engaging site with writing prompts and activities based on a picture prompt or story starter.

This is now free until April. Over 5000 interactive titles.

Read Theory is a free reading comprehension site with leveled reading passages and questions and allows teachers or parents to track progress with a student Google sign-in.

A great app for creating fun ebooks. Book Creator now works on Chromebooks as well as iPads. A great way to get students creating.

NewsELA provides leveled stories for students with the ability to sign in with Google and do quizzes and activities.

Scholastic has free Learn at Home resources.

Self-directed or parent directed general tools.

The Online Reference Centre includes access to some great reference sites where students can do independent research and reading.

The support site indicates where curriculum ties can be found.

Sites include Britannica Schools, The Canadian Encyclopedia, National Geographic Kids and Powerknowledge, Bookflix.

These sites are a great place for students to explore different topics.

Quizizz is similar to Kahoot but is more individually paced. Students can quiz themselves on any content or create their own sets.

Duolingo is a great site for learning languages. I'm learning Spanish. Who's with me?

Lots of self-directed practice and pre-made sets to learn content as well as the ability for students to create their own sets.
