Student's 9th Grade Checklist
Begin a portfolio to track your activities, keep up with passwords, manage deadlines, and stay organized.
Create a gafutures account if you do not have one. This will be your go-to place for every resource you will need for graduation planning.
Participate in school or community based activities that interest you (volunteering, clubs, sports, band).
- Start thinking about what careers you may be interested in. Check out the Career Exploration section in GAfutures to help you determine your interests and the different types of careers out there.
Be sure to introduce yourself to your school counselor. Make an appointment to discuss your classes and ask questions about education options during high school (Gordon Dual Enrollment, College & Career Academy, AP) and after high school (college, military, career).
Develop good study habits. Your HOPE GPA begins calculating as soon as you set foot into high school. Create a schedule and stick to it.
- Track your HOPE GPA with the HOPE GPA Calculator through GAFutures beginning in 9th grade to see if you are on track for HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility.
