Mental Health

WHAT IS A MENTAL ILLNESS?

A mental illness is not specific to a certain person or group, just like a physical illness. It changes how one thinks, feels or acts. Some people act in ways that are hard to understand, but they may be battling a mental illness that is not able to be seen from the outside. Through love, growth, and compassion, a person that struggles with a mental illness can regain hope, and overcome their struggles.

My Views On Mental Health

"It is important to validate mental illnesses as real illnesses. Just because it often shows no visible symptoms, doesn’t mean that it isn’t real."

"Is not easy live with mental illness, you can be stressed for the school, the family, the friends… just don’t put yourself down and do the best that you can."

"Others who are there to help, need to be PATIENT!"

"I have an anxiety disorder and I know how difficult it can be to perform daily activities due to fears. I also know how stressful it can be to face these fears and work past them even in times where this conflicts with your mental struggles."

"I know how hard it can be to deal with mental illness. There is a constant battle between yourself and society. Sometimes it is best to take time for yourself."

"Mental illnesses are not to be self diagnosed. They are very serious and you never want to undermine the victim of any mental illness."

"Sometimes it is okay to reflect on things by yourself, but don’t push away people who are trying to help you!"

"I have struggled with mental illness myself. I currently have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety and am on a couple antidepressants. It’s a hard struggle that is made easier with supportive friends and family. There are good days, and there will be bad days. Surviving the bad days is the goal."

"Mental illness does not present outwardly. People internalize their feelings and it is hard to tell when the victim is struggling."

"It’s not easy to cope with."

"I have known many people that have struggled with mental illness, and it's not a situation you can go through alone. The pressure a person can feel from their illnesses can be crippling, but even the slightest glimmer of hope and positivity can be life changing for a person diagnosed with a mental illness."

"Mental illness is a disorder not a decision, to not have your suffering recognized is an almost unbearable form of violence. Depression, anxiety and panic attacks are not signs of weakness."

"Mental illness is extremely difficult to deal with. It’s a constant weight on life and drags whoever it is affecting."

"It is hard to focus on everyday activities. Motivation gets to an all time low and waking up everyday seems pointless. Taking time to focus on yourself is hard because you feel like you are not worth anything. Depression is not something that should be taken lightly or joked about. Everyone has different coping methods. Be respectful to everyone and try to be understanding."

"Everyone has different mental strength levels, always listen and try to understand."

"Mental illness is very hard to cope will. A lot of people suffer from depression and anxiety."
