Administration of G Suite for Education domain

Accessing and understanding G Suite’s Admin Console

The front end admin access to most of the core settings in G Suite would be via the GAC. This will be the main stage for administration of accounts, groups, policy and security settings to name a few.

Organizational Unit Structure

Prior to adding in users, a structured organizational unit needs to be created to facilitate policy settings. Settings such as turning on and off of services will be done at Organizational Unit (OU) level. As such, OUs should reflect how the institution plans to set and push policies.

User Provisioning

User provisioning or creation of user accounts can and will usually be done using the GAC. Bulk upload and individual user creation is usually done after the setting up of OU.

Group Provisioning

Groups creation and adding of group members are done using the GAC. Groups will also have Access level settings that will set how a group will function and who has access to them.

Core and Additional Services

G Suite’s core services like Mail, Drive and Classroom can be turned off and on via the GAC. Settings of individual services can also be managed and most services can be managed on an OU level besides applying them across the board.
