Most of you will know me as your reading teacher! In general, my job is going to be helping you become critical thinkers through your ability to read and interpret different types of texts. For the most part, you will be diving deep into short stories and informational texts. We will be following the units from our textbook titled "Collections." That is how we will refer to our units: as a Collection of stories that all follow a specific theme. By the end of the year, you will learn how to navigate through the different levels of texts, looking at them in different lenses! Hopefully by the end of the year you will also become life long lovers of reading, but we can talk about that later!

If you were in my honors class last year, you will know that many of the assignments YOU did, your other classmates did as well! That is going to be farely common for the first sememster if you are in honors. The set up is the same, in the sense that we will primarily be reading short stories out of the 7th grade collections textbook AND focus on the same standards!

2nd semester is going to be a bit different. After winter break, we will move from 7th grade curriculum to 8th grade standards and stories! For many of you (the students) who are in honors, you are going to stay in honors next year as well! If that's the case, then you will completely skip over the 8th grade stories and move into high school material! Because of this, in 7th grade, we are ensuring that students get as much exposure to the different skills and materials as possible!
