Overview and Responsibilities
The Capital Works Division is responsible for taking timely action to implement new construction and rehabilitation projects identified in the University Master Plan and the Annual Procurement Plan. These projects are carried out to meet targeted timelines while improving infrastructure facilities that support the goals and objectives of the University of Peradeniya.
Scope of Work
To ensure the effective implementation of capital and rehabilitation projects, the Capital Works Division undertakes the following key activities:
Preparation of project proposals in accordance with approved standards and guidelines.
Preparation of bidding and tender documents and calling tenders for construction and rehabilitation projects.
Coordination of the award of contracts in line with established procurement procedures.
Verification of contractors’ bills and recommendation of payment requests after ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
Handling day-to-day documentary work, including correspondence, record-keeping, and file maintenance related to projects.
Preparation of progress reports to monitor and evaluate the status of ongoing projects.
Through these administrative, technical, and coordination functions, the Capital Works Division plays a vital role in strengthening the University’s infrastructure and supporting its long-term development objectives.
