Solid fuel combustion

Thermal Decomposition of Nitrate

The typical ingredients are oxidants and fuels that can undergo thermal decomposition to produce a large amount of gas for fuel combustion and propulsion. Recently, in order to avoid the disadvantages derived from the use of ammonium perchlorate (AP) as an oxidant, including dense smoke and chloride, the use of nitrate is a feasible oxidant for solid propellants. With the addition of combustion catalyst, the thermal decomposition rate of nitrate can be increased. The promotion of chemical reaction and the stability of the increasing burning rate is a topic worthy of further discussion.
