One of the activities that we like to carry out the most are excursions to get to know the surroundings and at the same time gather biological information on the area, which we have deepened through other sources. We are interested and enjoy sharing all this information that we have found out, mainly in an experiential way, so we organize recreational and informative excursions for guests that can be half-day, all-day or several days; in some of these we combine sea, beach and jungle.
In the rivers there are freshwater pools at the foot of multiple waterfalls.
Waterfall of the Town-La Pilona
It is the waterfall that is in the town. This tour consists of a walk through the beautiful streets of the town, about 20 minutes, to reach the part where the impressive waterfall of approximately 25 meters is. There is a small restaurant there where you can have a snack while enjoying this wonderful show. Before the appetizer we would go to see La Pilona, which is the pool of water that forms before the waterfall; it is a walk of another 10 or 15 minutes along a path that goes up the mountain among the vegetation, it is not difficult to walk but it does need attention from the participants. This pool normally has a lot of water and even in the dry season, it has water! When it has a lot of water you can climb some rocks and do big dives. And the most special thing about this pool is the view, there is a point where you are inside the pool and the water of the pool meets the sea! Then we return for an aperitif or we return along another very pleasant path towards the Naranjos, where we will find several fruit trees and depending on the season, you can enjoy their fruits.
The Cathedral Waterfall
This is an excursion for those who want to walk for an hour along the banks of the Tuito River (which is the river that separates Yelapa in two) admiring the vegetation of the place. At the end of the tour, an 8-meter waterfall awaits us with a beautiful pool for swimming. The amount of water that runs in it depends on the rainy season and what time of year we go. To get there we cross the river twice, sometimes the water will reach our ankles and others it will reach our waist. It will depend on the mood of the group if we stay a long time at the waterfall or if we start the return in a short time. This return is the same way we traveled on the way, so it will take another hour. Duration: 2 hours and a half, or more.
El Caderas Waterfall
It is the longest excursion. It consists of a walk through the middle of the jungle, enjoying different landscapes between several crossings of the river. At a comfortable pace, it will take between 3 and a half to 4 hours to reach a waterfall that has a drop of water of more than 30 meters. Some mules will be taken to carry food and in case any of the hikers is too tired.
Good walking shoes are necessary but they can get wet.
Marietas Islands : On a day trip you will visit these nearby islands in a glass-bottom boat that will allow you to observe some facets of the underwater world
If you are fond of hiking, you can do the short tours that we mention in the walks section on your own, taking the necessary precautions and asking us for some recommendations, before your departure.
During the months of November to March, humpback whales visit the coast of Jalisco; Many days this season, embarking on a boat in Yelapa you will be able to appreciate them a few meters away, without leaving the Bay. In Los Naranjos we organize the tour, which includes a memorable meal prepared by local fishermen, in a small cove of clean and transparent water, called Corrales.
You can practice free diving, fishing in the traditional style, or also scuba diving.
Paragliding
Experts in flying, they discovered the beauty of Yelapa and its cliffs. They offer individual or tandem flights and lessons to do so.
Parasailing
From a parachute, pulled by a boat, you will be able to observe the magnificent view of Yelapa Bay and its surroundings.
For beginners and advanced, short and long term.
There are multiple alternatives for those who like fishing: from harpoon fishing in free diving and river fishing with a fishing rod to deep-sea fishing, of large species, which is one of the most famous sports in the area.
Diving to observe the fish and marine vegetation and rowing a kayak are two activities that you can do in Yelapa without having to bring the required equipment with you, because you can rent it with us or on the beach.
