It's important that you access NoodleTools through the link on the library homepage. This connects directly to our school's service.
If it's your first login of the year, you will be asked a series of questions to refresh your account. If you have recently accessed NoodleTools, you will be automatically logged in.

Video A
Video B
There are many different scenarios for creating citations in NoodleTools. The most basic citations are created by entering the ISBN number of a specific resource (see video A to the left).
However, the first several steps of this video demonstrate how to create a citation for any material. To do so:
Navigate to the "Sources" page in your project
Select the green "New Source" button in the upper right-hand corner
Select the location where you accessed your resource (e.g. print, website, etc.)
Select the source type you will be citing (e.g. book, journal article, website, etc.)
Enter the ISBN. If no ISBN is available, fill in the fields at the bottom of the form with as much information as you can
Hit "Save" to add the citation to your works cited list
Export a citation from a database
When saving sources from databases, your work is often done for you. Watch the video to the left for instructions, or click on the links above for more information.
Please note that the following databases allow you to export citations to NoodleTools:
ABC-CLIO
EBSCO
Gale
Infobase
JSTOR
ProQuest
From the "Sources" menu, click on the upload icon at the top of the page
Select the file type to which you'd like to export your works cited page
Select whether you want the page to include all of your citations or ones that are tagged
The file will open in a separate window for you to send or share
Select the "Notecards" section on the left-hand menu
Notice that there are two views: Tabletop and Detailed. You can use either view or toggle back and forth; this is a personal preference.
Select the green "New Notecard" button in the upper right-hand corner to create a new notecard
When the notecard opens, there will be three sections in which you can enter notes and information:
Direct Quotation
"Enter direct quotes from your source here. These quotes can be copied verbatim from your source because you will include them in your project with the proper citation."
Paraphrase or Summary
This is a space where you can enter information or ideas you've learned in your source. Notes in this section will be in your own words, either in paraphrase or summary form, and will still be cited in your project.
My Ideas
This is a space where you can enter information or ideas you've learned in your source. Notes in this section will be in your own words, either in paraphrase or summary form, and will still be cited in your project.
Enter the title of your notecard and select the source from the drop-down menu, which corresponds to your works cited page and SAVE.
Note the menu options you have for organizing your notecards. Particularly useful might be color and cue designations.
From the Notecards Module, click the box in the center-right labeled "Outline" and the outline module will open on the right-hand side of the screen.
You can edit the text of any row by double-clicking.
To add a new topic, select the last topic you created, select the "+" dropdown menu, and click "Add topic". To add subtopics, highlight the topic you want to nest the subtopic under, select "+", and then select "Add subtopic."
You can add notecards to your outline by dragging and dropping them into place.
When your outline is complete, select the print icon in the center-right, select whether or not you want just the outline or the outline with the notecards to be exported, select the appropriate format and fields, and hit "submit."
