Vowels are continuous, voiced sounds and for little learners vowels can be TOUGH. Use these tents (pictures on one side and letters on the other) as a quick and easy way to get some vowel-intensive work in.
What might it look/sound like?
• (Have students pull an object/provide object) “What is the vowel sound?”
• Provide initial and final letter of a word. (e.g. c_t, p_n) “What could the missing vowel be? What could it not be?”
• Provide three words. (e.g. cat, pan, pot) “Which one doesn’t belong? What vowel sound does it have instead?”
• “I want to turn bag into big. What middle sound or letter will I change?”
