Arete is an ancient Greek concept meaning excellence or virtue.

It is when someone can use all their faculties – social, intellectual, emotional – to achieve a life well-lived, and to express their highest potential.

The Griffin Arete Programme (GAP) guides students in understanding their strengths, values, and interests, setting them on a path to live more fulfilling lives - filling GAPs in their knowledge in pursuit of excellence.

GAP is an individualised programme that offers you access to a wide range of independent learning options designed to widen your knowledge and build on your existing skills or help you develop new skills and knowledge as you move to the next phase of your life – whether that is moving on from KS4 to VI Form, FE College or apprenticeships, or taking up a place at university, employment or a degree apprenticeship.
