In 2018 our Year 6-10 maths teachers started a collaborative approach to maths PLD, meeting termly to identify and address strengths and areas for development across the Mawhera Kahui Ako. This approach continues in 2019.
2019 Session 1 - Wednesday 6th March
In the first session of 2019 we identified common areas of strength and development across the Kahui Ako based on our latest maths PAT data to inform sessions for the year. We also looked at different approaches to teaching negative numbers.
2019 Session 2 - Wednesday 19th June
In the Term 2 session we focused on number knowledge (in particular fractions, decimals and percentages) which was an area identified in Term 1 (and 2018!). In the second half of the session we moderated samples of student work at curriculum levels 3, 4 and 5. Links to this work can be found in the presentation as well as the new 'Maths Moderation' page of the website (great idea Bev!). Over time we can then add to these student work samples to create a portfolio of moderated work from our students.
