Learning objective:Â
Students will participate in the first of three assessed badminton tournament rounds, applying their developing technical skills and tactical decision-making in competitive game play.
Students will also complete their first self-assessment for AS 2.8 – Demonstrate Social Responsibility in Physical Activity, reflecting on how effectively they demonstrated the levels of Don Hellison’s Model (respect, participation and effort, self-direction, leadership, and caring for others) during tournament play.
The focus this week is on performing under authentic conditions while critically reflecting on their ability to demonstrate social responsibility within a competitive physical activity context.
Term 1 - Week 4
Learning objective:Â
Students will demonstrate and apply Don Hellison’s Model of Social Responsibility within badminton by showing respect, effort, self-direction, leadership, and caring for others during gameplay and peer assessment
Students will continue refining their badminton shots including the serve, clear, drop, and smash within increasingly competitive and game-based situations. The focus will be on improving shot selection, consistency, and tactical decision-making under pressure.
Alongside skill development, students will assess their playing partner’s ability to demonstrate social responsibility in badminton by applying Don Hellison’s Model of Social Responsibility (Levels 1–5). Students will provide constructive feedback on areas such as respect, effort, self-direction, leadership, and caring for others, linking this directly to the requirements of AS 2.8.
This week emphasises both performance improvement and the ability to actively demonstrate and evaluate social responsibility within a physical activity context.
Term 1 - Week 3
Learning objective:Â
Students will develope understanding of the multiple Badminton shots.Â
This week Students will practice thier Smash and Drop shot's within modified applied settings, While continuing to developing their Serve and Clear shots.Â
We will be diving deeper into the requirements of AS 2.8 where students are to demonstrate social responsibility in physical activity through Don Hellison's model of Social Responsibility.Â
Students will also be organized into their tournament teams for the assessment as well as complete their second 2.4km run for the year.Â
