I believe that as an art educator I need to provide opportunities for student growth. I accomplish this by encouraging self-expression, developing perceptual skills, promoting an awareness of the environment, and increasing an understanding of heritage and culture. I have a lot of ground to cover within a limited amount of time, 45minutes per week, 32 class periods per year. My goal is for students to feel successful in the art room. Goals, concepts, objectives, and activities are designed to be informative, reflective, challenging and satisfying. I expect students to give me their very best effort and to develop an appreciation for good craftsmanship.
