Charlie
Allie & Poe
My teaching journey began after graduating from Michigan State University, and I've enjoyed every moment spent in the classroom. I started at Southside High School, where I taught for 9 years, and then moved on to Fisher Middle School for 7 years. I joined Riverside Middle School in January 2024.
I’ve also coached three middle school ELA teachers in the GATE program. This experience has allowed me to collaborate closely with colleagues and support their professional growth.
Outside of teaching, I immerse myself in creative activities like writing, knitting, drawing, and working with clay at a pottery studio. I believe in the transformative power of the arts to enhance learning on a deeper level.
Family is my anchor. My husband, Stephen, is from the UK, and we love exploring the world together, especially England and Scotland. Originally from Michigan, we often visit family there and my alma maters, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan.
A year ago, we adopted a new kitty named Poe. It's been an adventure welcoming him into our lives, especially after the loss of our beloved dog Charlie. We also have a 16-year-old kitty named Allie Cat. Our daughter, Ellie, is now a rising 7th grader.
Let’s make this academic year amazing!
