A Tardy consists of any time a student is late for class. A student who arrives late to school or class is tardy. All teachers will close their doors to begin instruction when the tardy bells rings. Any student who is tardy to school after 8:45 am must go to the front office. to obtain a pass. If a student does not attend at least half of any class; the student will be counted absent for the class period. Students that are late to school or late to a class cause major disruptions to the school day for office personnel and classroom teachers.
Tardies to school: All students are allowed three tardies to school per quarter without a consequence. This allows for unusual circumstances such as an automobile accident, slow traffic, oversleeping, or flat tire. All other tardies, unless accompanied by a medical note, will be deemed unexcused. Persistent tardiness will be addressed by administration.
Students are allowed three (3) tardies per quarter.
The following are acceptable as “excused tardy”
Medical appointment (must have a note from doctor)
Court appearance (must have a note from court)
Late bus (must have a note from the attendance office)
A signed hall pass from administration, guidance, SRO, or mental health staff
The Administration reserves the right to revoke parking passes if tardies become excessive
Consequences Per Quarter
First Tardy – Warning
Second Tardy – Warning
Third Tardy – Final Warning, Parent Contact
Fourth Tardy – Referral, Administrator assigns Lunch Detention
Fifth Tardy – Referral, Administrator assigns After School Detention (1 hour served, M, T, W, or Th)
Sixth Tardy – Referral, Administrator may assign ISS
Seventh Tardy - Referral, Administrator may assign ISS
Eight and Subsequent Tardies – Referral, Administrator may assign OSS
