Who should consider IB?
Students who are good candidates for the IB Diploma Programme
Have a high level of self-motivation;
Have shown success at the Honors and AP levels in grades 9 and 10;
Have a strong commitment to learning in and beyond the classroom;
Are willing to learn the time-management and organizational skills necessary to complete the programme.
Students who wish to enter the IB Diploma Programme in the 11th grade must consult the IB coordinator during pre-registration in the 9th and 10th grades. We recommend that students have credit for the following courses by the end of their 10th-grade year:
Recommended Pre-IB Programme:
English 3 Honors
Spanish 3 for IB Spanish B SL or HL
World Geography Honors or AP Human Geography, AP World History, Government and Economics
Biology 1 Honors, Chemistry 1 Honors
Geometry Honors, Algebra II Honors
One computer science credit
One fine arts credit (Art, Music, or Theatre)
Physical Education
For students choosing Sports, Exercise & Health Science: Biology I and Chemistry I Preferred
For students choosing IB Film: No prerequisites
For students choosing IB Theatre: Theatre 1 and 2
Modifications to the pre-IB programme may be approved in consultation with the IB coordinator and the IB subject teacher(s).
