I am a teacher, a wife, a mom, a daughter and a community member. My husband and I live in the area and have two elementary age children.
My favorite activities are reading, biking, swimming, volunteering, being outdoors and hanging with my family.
I have lived in many different states along the East coast, and my favorite city is Boston! I lived in Western North Carolina for 10 years before moving to South Carolina in 2023.
I studied English Education at Plattsburgh State University where I earned my Bachelors degree. During my 10 years teaching ELA at the middle school level, I also earned my Masters in Education from UMass Boston and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Instructional Technology from Simmons College. While teaching at the high school level, I became a National Board Certified Teacher.
During my career at the secondary level, I developed a high interest in how important early reading intervention was for a struggling student and how to fill in the gaps in their reading skills. As my own children started their schooling, I became even more driven to help these younger struggling students and participated in various professional development opportunities to become a Reading Teacher... and now I am!
