Become a Mentor at Our School
We love giving our students the chance to build positive connections with caring adults in our community. For many children, having someone who cares outside of family adds stability, encouragement, and confidence. Mentors help students feel seen, supported, and capable—both socially and academically.
Why Mentoring Matters
Even a small amount of time can make a big difference. Research shows students with mentors are:
52% less likely than their peers to skip a day of school and 37% less likely to skip individual classes.
More likely to volunteer regularly (about 78% more likely).
More likely to hold leadership positions in clubs or sports.
More likely to feel a strong sense of belonging at school.
If you are someone who would like to spend time with our students—whether it’s sharing lunch or reading together—we’d be excited to have you involved! To get started, volunteers need to apply through Mentor Upstate (see instructions below). Thank you for helping us connect our students with wonderful role models who make a lasting impact!
