Manners Luncheon

Volunteers

Volunteers will be needed from 11:00 am until approximately 1:30 pm on the day of the Manners Luncheon.  Volunteers will be helping with setting tables, serving food and drinks, and clean up.  Please wear white tops, black bottoms, and dark shoes (or as close to this as possible).  We will do our best to pair you with your child’s table.  Please let me know if you would be willing to help with this event.

Information

Our Annual 5th grade Manners Luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 14th. This student event allows 5th graders the opportunity to practice the soft skills they have learned in a formal dining setting.  In class, we discussed appropriate attire, what to say to RSVP, and dining etiquette. Students received invitations and are expected to RSVP for the event themselves by calling my office phone to leave a voicemail. Below you can find examples of appropriate attire that we discussed in class (all outfits should still meet school dress code).

Wednesday, February 28th we will have a dining etiquette lesson from Ms. Block, the Junior Cotillion Director in Greenville. She will teach students the correct utensil for each course, the proper way to sit at a formal event, and other formal dining expectations.

Our Annual Manners Luncheon concludes a unit on etiquette.  During this unit we cover business etiquette, dining etiquette, appropriate attire for different situations, and practice our signatures.  This event supports our District's G+ initiative as well as giving students the opportunity for real-world practice for all of the soft skills we have learned and that they will need for the future.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
